The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC) is funded through an assessment on the intrastate gross receipts of the state’s investor-owned utility companies pursuant to Section 4911.18 of the Ohio Revised Code. Total assessments for fiscal year 2007 amounted to $8,066,000 after adjustments.
The OCC assessed 453 utility companies for operating funds for fiscal year 2007. Companies can pass on the cost of supporting the OCC to their customers.
